Joseph Faura lives in Baltimore, MD where he is working on a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts. His interests include many things. Academically he is interested in mythologies; in particular how the lack of them in our modern society may be attributing to many of our personal and interpersonal problems. He reads books by Joseph Campbell, but also believes Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle was on to something.
Joseph received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the Florida State University. It was here where he was introduced to Campbell's writings, so he often expresses gratitude for his time spent there. It was also here where he cultivated his obsession with hand-made collages, which he currently enjoys making. These collages are always beautiful in form, but perverse and humorous at the same time. Joseph enjoys comedy and likes to watch it regularly on television, but prefers the British dry wit above all. He has been watching Monty Python's Flying Circus for inspiration. He often enjoys Terry Gilliam's animations. He doesn't, however, enjoy being called an Anglophile.
Joseph is Peruvian by birth. He was born in the city of Lima, but grew up in South Florida. He doesn't like to say he grew up in Miami, though that's precisely where he grew up. He lived in Tallahassee—the Florida capital—for about eight years, where he attended school far longer than was necessary. He also lived in London for a very short period of time. This may attribute to his love for British comedy. In Tallahassee he worked as a designer and then as production manager at the FSView, an independent collegiate newspaper. He really enjoyed working there at the end, and was sad to leave. Joseph is currently in his last year at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County working on his thesis, which is probably going to be about mythology.
